Conasauga River Alliance

The name "Conasauga" is derived from the Cherokee word kahnasagah, which means "sparkling waters". Flowing from the Georgia Mountains, the Conasauga River helps sustain two-thirds of the nations carpet industry, while playing host to more than 75 species of fish and 18 species of freshwater mussels. This seemingly unmatched level of biodiversity and fascinating local history has developed interests from an array of citizens, as well as both private and public organizations. The Conasauga River Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the magnificent Conasauga watershed. The Alliance is made up of caring local citizens, conservation groups, and representatives from local industries and various levels of government.
